Children's Events At Hamleys

When he was a small boy, William Hamley dreamed of opening the best toy shop in the world. In 1760, he did, cramming his small shop ‘Noah’s Ark’ with every toy he could find. By the time Queen Victoria came to the throne in 1837, Hamleys was already a London landmark. Today, the flagship store on Regent Street has over 7 floors packed full of toys and games, and now delivers to children all over the world.

Here’s your chance to have a magical birthday party in the world’s finest toy store, and with 4 options to choose from, we’re sure you’ll find something magical for your child.

Our Birthday Party Options:

Option 1: Birthday Tea & Tour

One of our fantastic tour guides will take you around the seven floors of Hamleys, giving you all the behind-the-scenes gossip, news and history. You’ll learn how much Hamleys has changed since it opened in 1760 and how the store operates now.  We will build the tour to suit the birthday child, ensuring that special attention is paid to their favourite toys and games.  They will even be given the chance to play at being a demonstrator. Once you have visited the seven floors, you’ll be taken to the Hamleys Café for morning or afternoon tea with stacks of cake and sweets, before being given a goody bag to take home.

Make sure you allow at least 1½ hours, plus plenty of time to shop afterwards.

Option 2: Penthouse Party

We can organise parties in the amazing new party room throughout the year.  Working with Hamleys, we can create parties for different age groups and whether groups are all boys, all girls, or mixed groups of boys and girls.

You’ll have a choice of themes and plenty of activities and food to keep your party happy.

Themes: Magic, Mad about Motors, Pirates & Princesses, Arts & Crafts

All parties: Invitations, Activities, Party Tea, Birthday Cake, Goody Bags

Times: Parties last 2 hours

Option 3: Magical Toy Shop Party

Have you ever dreamt of having a whole toy shop to yourself? Can can arrange for Hamleys to open specially for your party on a Sunday morning for a couple of hours before they let anyone else in.  No two adventurers are the same, so together with Hamleys, we’ll work with you to create the party of your dreams, agreeing the theme, entertainments or activities. And of course there’ll be party food, birthday cake and a goody bag for everyone!

Sunday Running Order:
09.45am: The birthday child arrives
10.00am: Guests arrive via the main doors of Hamleys
10.15am: Entertainment or Activity
11.15am: Treasure Hunt around the store
11.45am: Party tea
12.30pm: Party ends. Children all get a goody bag to take home.

Theming: We will work with you to create an overall theme, encompassing the Invitations, Entertainment or Activity, Birthday Cake and also Goody Bags.

Option 4: The Hamleys Sleepover

Imagine having the entire toy store to yourself and your closest friends…all night long…working with Hamleys, we will supply you with special invitations to send out to each of your friends.  Whether you want to be a Pirate or a Princess… We will find a theme to suit you and make sure your whole night is magical, from what you choose to wear through to watching your favourite movie.

9pm: VIP Arrivals:
Arrive at the front door and be greeted by your party hosts.
You will go straight to the Dress-Up department to get yourself a fantastic outfit.
Then it’s photographs and a visit to the Sweet Factory.
10pm: Let the games begin:
Treasure Hunts and Activities.
11pm: Late-Night Feast:
Create a menu of truly scrumptious party food, prepared by your very own chef.
12pm: Midnight at the Movies:
Climb into your sleeping bag and curl up with juice and popcorn.
8am: Breakfast
9am: Time to head home
