Jamie Carragher happy to play anywhere at World Cup 2010

Liverpool star Jamie Carragher has told England manager Fabio Capello that he will be happy to play a flexible role in defence during the team's World Cup 2010 campaign.

With Capello due to make the squad announcement on Tuesday (June 1st 2010), it is believed that Carragher will be heading to South Africa, despite previously announcing his retirement from international football.

But the defender has revealed that he is more relaxed about his role in the line up and will offer to play in more than one position if it is needed.

He explained: "Centre-back is my best position. But if you look at the squad maybe the manager does see me playing a different position, which is something I will have to adapt to. Basically, I will just do whatever the manager says. It's up to the manager."

Fellow England defender Ledley King recently said that he is reluctant to play in a more midfield position if Gareth Barry does not recover from an injury in time for World Cup 2010.
