David Beckham has backed Wayne Rooney and Jermain Defoe to shine at the FIFA World Cup.
The former Manchester United midfielder, who is currently on loan at AC Milan, said that the two young stars have the fire power which could lead England to glory in the competition, the Metro reported.
In an exclusive interview with ESPN, Beckham stated that despite Rooney's young age, the striker is always eager to improve.
"However successful he has been for Manchester United and with England, he always wants to get better," the free-kick specialist said ahead of his current club's derby clash with Inter Milan.
He added that Defoe could prove vital for England's FIFA World Cup chances because of his finishing ability, saying: "When you give Jermain a chance, he will score."
Beckham will himself be hoping to add to his collection of 115 caps at the upcoming tournament. He is already England's most-capped outfield player of all time.
