Wimbledon hospitality news: Andy Murray advances against Rafael Nadal

Wimbledon hospitality ticketholders may be hoping Andy Murray can reproduce his form at the Australian Open when he appears at the SW19 tournament.

The Scottish star was on his way to overcoming the defending champion Rafael Nadal in their quarter-final clash, only for the Spaniard to call a halt to proceedings mid-way through the third set.

Nadal retired hurt with a right knee injury, which also kept him from appearing in front of Wimbledon hospitality ticketholders in 2009. He has also struggled with an abdominal problem in recent months.

Murray was 3-0 up in the third set when Nadal pulled out, with the Scot having already taken the first two sets 6-3 and 7-6 (7-2). It means that the world number four has still yet to lose a set in this year's Australian Open.

Despite his victory, Murray expressed his sympathy for his opponent, saying: "He is my favourite player to watch with his energy and I am a bit gutted for him."

He will now go on to face Marin Cilic in the semi-final.ADNFCR-2911-ID-19578457-ADNFCR
