Louis Deacon is keen to use this weekend's 6 Nations outing against Scotland to put him at the forefront of Martin Johnson's mind as a regular starter in games such as the England v Barbarians clash.
The Leicester Tigers lock will start in the Calcutta Cup match on March 13th 2010 in the absence of regular incumbent Simon Shaw.
Deacon played all but the first five minutes of the last 6 Nations match - the 16-20 defeat by Ireland - after Shaw was forced off with a shoulder injury.
He expressed confidence that he will shine alongside England captain Steve Borthwick in this weekend's clash and said he hopes it will put him in line for selection in the England v Barbarians match.
Speaking to RFU.com, the 29-year-old said the Scotland fixture is a "big challenge" for Martin Johnson's side.
"On a personal front, it's a good opportunity for me to stake a claim - I've had limited opportunity in the 6 Nations so far," he added.
