Press information for release 24 February 2011
Keith Prowse, the UK’s hospitality leader, is calling on corporates to support Cancer Research UK on Ladies’ Singles Quarter-Finals Day at The Championships, Wimbledon.
Keith Prowse, Wimbledon’s official hospitality provider for 29 years, will raise funds for research into breast cancer on Tuesday 28th June as guests at the grass court Grand Slam watch the world’s best female tennis players and enjoy an unrivalled dining experience. A 20 per cent share of all packages purchased for the award-winning Gatsby Club will be donated to Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work.
The event is part of Cancer Research UK’s initiative to use sport and entertainment as a vehicle to raise money to help beat cancer. The charity’s work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer has saved millions of lives in the UK and across the world.
The Wimbledon ladies draw is set to be hotly contested this summer as Serena Williams attempts to become the first woman since Steffi Graf to win three ladies’ singles titles in a row.
Guests at the Gatsby Club, which recently starred in Michel Roux’s Service on BBC2, will enjoy an exclusive three-course menu designed by Michel’s father, Michelin-starred Chef Albert Roux. Package holders in the Centre Court Skyview Suites are to be situated just a stone’s throw from the world’s most famous tennis court, with a dedicated butler to provide an attentive service from a champagne reception to seasonal four-course lunch before play commences.
Ted Walker, Head of Marketing at Keith Prowse said: “We are extremely happy to have pledged our commitment to Cancer Research UK, which represents such a worthwhile cause. Global attention will be trained on Ladies’ Singles Quarter-Finals Day making it a fitting occasion on which to raise awareness of the battle against breast cancer.”
Jools Tait, Director of Partnerships at Cancer Research UK said: “We are delighted that Keith Prowse is generously supporting our work to help women suffering from breast cancer in the UK. The proceeds from Ladies’ Singles Quarter-Finals Day will help us carry out vitally important work and we are proud to be associated with one the world’s most iconic sporting events.”
