Ajmal Shahzad 'not ruled out of Pakistan series'
29/07/2010
The door has been left open for Ajmal Shahzad to play in front of fans with Test match tickets during the current England v Pakistan series.
Shahzad had been in contention for a place in England's starting line-up for the first game of the four-Test series, but was ruled out after injuring an ankle yesterday (July 28th 2010).
Fellow Yorkshire bowler Tim Bresnan has been called up in his place, but national selector Geoff Miller said there is no reason why Shahzad should not be in the running to play in front of people with Test match tickets later on in the series.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Miller remarked: "We expect Ajmal to make a full recovery. He hasn't been ruled unavailable for the second npower Test.
"We're not picking sides for the two Test matches - we're doing it separately."
England captain Andrew Strauss won the toss and opted to bat on the first day of the opening Test at Trent Bridge earlier today.
