Andy Murray in easy quarter-final win
25/01/2012
Andy Murray stormed into the semi finals of the Australian Open tennis tournament with a straight-sets demolition of his Japanese opponent Kei Nishikori today (January 25th).
The Scot won 6-3 6-3 6-1 to secure a spot in the last four against Novak Djokovic or David Ferrer, despite being broken once and having other break points against his serve.
However, the fact only 44 per cent of his serves landed in did not derail Murray as he outclassed the rising Japanese star and with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal contesting the other semi-final, a familiar look is developing about the last four.
Fans enjoying hospitality packages at Wimbledon may see the same situation there, leading to some mouth-watering clashes between the best players in the world.
And the usual suspects have been making good progress in the womens' singles, with Maria Sharapova and Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova having both won their quarter finals today.
