Andy Murray wins Wimbledon opening match

A change of tactics from Andy Murray meant Wimbledon hospitality guests were able to watch him sail to victory in his opening match of the tournament.

Yesterday (June 20th), the Scot took on Daniel Gimeno-Traver of Spain on Centre Court.

Although his opponent won the first set, Murray was able to regain control of the match and it ended 4-6 6-3 6-0 6-0.

Speaking to the BBC after the event, the British number one explained he altered his game plan after a series of long rallies and missed returns.

"The court was quite slow as it is normally in the first week," he stated. "I changed the way I was playing and the way I was returning especially."

Murray went on to tie up the last three sets in 85 minutes, the news provider stated.

He was not the only person to win on Centre Court yesterday, as world number one Rafael Nadal and Jelena Dokic also progressed to the second round of the competition.
