Andy Titterrell not giving up on England chances
17/08/2010
Andy Titterrell still harbours hopes of playing in England rugby union internationals in the future.
The Leeds Carnegie hooker won the first of his five caps for his country back in 2004 against New Zealand, but a disappointing spell at Gloucester saw his England career put on hold.
Over the past year, Dylan Hartley, Steve Thompson and George Chuter have all enjoyed spells in the number two shirt during England rugby union internationals.
Despite the competition in front of him, Titterrell - who won a call up to the Saxons at the end of last season - is still keen to impress national coach Martin Johnson.
"I can only train and play as hard as I can out on the field, and if that's recognised by the England coaches, then that's fantastic," the 29-year-old told BBC Radio Leeds.
Titterrell will be hoping to get his season off to a strong start in Leeds Carnegie's first match of the Premiership season, when they host Bath on September 5th 2010.
