Ashton and Foden desperate to retain England places, says Reihana

Bruce Reihana has said his Northampton team-mates Chris Ashton and Ben Foden will be pushing hard to retain their England places for the autumn internationals

The Saints duo finally broke into Martin Johnson's set-up during the recent tour of the southern hemisphere and were both thought to have impressed the England boss, with Ashton scoring a try in the 21-20 victory over Australia.

Now that the pair have managed to replicate their club form at international level, Northampton captain Reihana believes they will be eager to keep their places for the autumn internationals

Speaking to the Northampton Chronicle, the 34-year-old said: "No doubt they're going to come back and be pushing hard. This will be good for them and the players around them."

Earlier this week, Reihana said Saints are more desperate than ever to reach the final of the forthcoming Premiership season, having been knocked out in the semi-finals last year.
