Fans enjoying hospitality packages at Edgbaston when England play Australia in a one-day international may get a taste of things to come in 2013 as a new fast-bowling attack takes shape for the Antipodean side.

Newcomer James Pattinson - whose Grimsby-born brother Darren played a Test for England - was man of the match at Melbourne as the traditional Boxing Day Test ended in a 122-run victory over India.

He took 4-53 in the second innings to complete match figures of 6-108, as the tourists were rolled over for just 169.

And Pattinson was well supported by Peter Siddle, who took three wickets in each innings, including Sachin Tendulkar twice.

The little master is still waiting for his 100th international century, after making scores of 73 and 32.

However, English fans may note that Australia's batting is rather more frail, with recent failures including being bowled out for just 47 by South Africa in Cape Town and a home defeat to New Zealand in Hobart.
