Autumn internationals news: Jonny Wilkinson is injury-free
02/06/2010
Jonny Wilkinson's chances of staking a place in England's starting line-up for the autumn internationals may have improved after he revealed he has recovered from his latest knock.
The fly-half was forced off during club side Toulon's European Challenge Cup final defeat at the hands of Cardiff Blues last month, causing fears that he could miss England's tour of Australia and New Zealand.
Although he has been ruled out of the opening fixture against the Australian Barbarians on June 8th 2010, Wilkinson said the injury will not keep him out of the rest of the schedule.
"Injury-wise I'm fine," the stand-off said. "It's nice to be here with easily enough time to get ready to be on the training field at the same time as everyone else."
The former Newcastle Falcons man may find it tough to recapture the number ten shirt for the autumn internationals unless he can regain his place during the southern hemisphere tour.
