Fans enjoying hospitality packages at the London Olympics may get to see David Beckham and Ryan Giggs playing together for the Great Britain team.

Although the competition is mainly restricted to under-23s, up to three over-age players can be chosen and the two veterans, who last played together at Manchester United in 2003, have indicated they are willing to play.

The Football Association wrote to 191 players last month checking their availability and only seven have said they will not take part.

Beckham is now 36 and Giggs 38, with both having finished their international careers - although Beckham has never formally retired.

The pair were part of United's FA Youth Cup winning side in 1992 alongside another veteran - Paul Scholes - who recently came out of retirement to play for the club again.

Beckham has been a high-profile figure in the British Olympic bid team and an ambassador for the Games, which included an appearance at the closing ceremony in Beijing four years ago when the Olympic flag was passed on to London.
