Brad Barritt added to England tour party

Brad Barritt may have an outside chance of being chosen for the Investec Internationals after he was called up to join the England squad down under.

The South Africa-born Saracens centre has been drafted into the tour party following an injury to Dominic Waldouck and while he is unlikely to be chosen for the second Test against Australia, he may play against the New Zealand Maori.

If he can impress England coach Martin Johnson in his time with the squad in Australia, the 23-year-old could put himself in the running for a place in the Investec Internationals team.

Brendan Venter, director of rugby at Saracens, noted that Barritt is on top of his game at the moment.

"Brad is an outstanding player in outstanding form," he told the club's website. "He reads the game well, he is brave and he is magnificently consistent, making very few errors."

The youngster was previously chosen by Johnson to represent England Saxons in the Churchill Cup back in 2009.
