Bradley Dredge still harbouring Ryder Cup hope

Bradley Dredge is on the hunt for success in the Irish Open in order to keep his hopes of playing in front of fans with Ryder Cup hospitality tickets

The Welshman finished in joint 27th place in The Open at St Andrews, despite flying out of the blocks with a six-under-par 66 in the opening round.

He went on to drop all of these shots over the next two rounds, before recovering on the final day with a 70 to end the tournament two under.

Dredge acknowledged that he needed a higher finish to give him a realistic chance of playing in front of fans with Ryder Cup hospitality tickets

As a result, the 37-year-old said he will probably now need to win the Irish Open - which gets underway at Killarney Golf and Fishing Club on July 29th - if he is to make the squad.

"Time is running out, but you never know," he was quoted by the Western Mail as saying. "I'm playing better [but] I really need to finish a tournament off."
