Butch James could miss England v South Africa clash

15/09/2010

Butch James is battling to be fit in time to play in front of fans with rugby packages in November's England v South Africa clash at Twickenham.

The Bath fly-half has undergone surgery on his right shoulder, with a statement on the club's website revealing he is unlikely to be back in action until November.

With the Springboks taking on Martin Johnson's men in front of rugby packages customers on November 27th 2010, James could be facing a race against time to prove his fitness.

Head coach at Bath Steve Meehan said the 31-year-old, who has played in 40 Tests for his country, would not be rushed back into action.

"It is always frustrating to lose a player of Butch's influence, but we will make sure he receives the best care and attention to get him back with the squad as and when he's ready," he asserted.

The England v South Africa match is the final game of this year's Investec Internationals.
