Chanderpaul signs for Warwickshire
Edgbaston hospitality guests looking to cheer on Warwickshire this summer may be pleased to hear the county have signed Shivnarine Chanderpaul as their overseas player for the rest of the season.
The West Indian batsman is expected to arrive at the club in around three weeks and remain until the conclusion of this year's LV= County Championship.
He will replace Mohammed Yousef as Warwickshire's overseas player and will provide a wealth of experience to the side, having played in 130 tests and 268 One-Day Internationals.
Commenting on the signing, Warwickshire's director of cricket Ashley Giles described the 36-year-old as a "class act".
"We are delighted that he has agreed to join us for the vitally important final stages of our season," Giles said, adding Chanderpaul's "great character" and "tremendous work ethic" would be a huge benefit to the team.
Warwickshire are currently third in both Division One of the County Championship and their Clydesdale Bank Pro 40 group, although their performance in the Friends Life T20 has been less impressive, as they have won just three of their nine games in the competition.
