England fast bowler Chris Tremlett has undergone surgery to deal with the back problem that forced him to leave England's tour of the UAE early.
The England and Wales Cricket Board has revealed that the centrally-contracted player underwent an operation in London yesterday (February 8th) after a scan found a bulging disc.
It added that the England medical team will manage his rehabilitation alongside their counterparts at Tremlett's county side Surrey, with a date for his return to be agreed "in due course".
The former Hampshire bowler will be hoping the recovery is quick and that he can return to action for the start of the Test series against the West Indies in May.
Fans enjoying hospitality packages at Lord's can do so during the first Test between England and the Caribbean side from May 17th-21st.
In his 11 Tests to date, Chris Tremlett has taken 49 wickets at an average of 26.75.
