Colin Montgomerie: English golf 'is amazing'

Colin Montgomerie has said golf lovers with Ryder Cup corporate tickets could be set to watch a host of English stars in action.
The captain of Europe's Ryder Cup team noted that a number of the country's top golfers have been in excellent form of late, a far cry from a decade ago when Lee Westwood was the only Englishman in the entire top 100.
Nowadays, three of Westwood's fellow countrymen - Luke Donald, Ian Poulter and Paul Casey - have joined him inside the top ten.
As a result, Monty suggested that the European team to compete against the US in front of fans with Ryder Cup corporate tickets could have a distinctly English feel.
"I could easily have six English players in my team the way it's going," he told the Mirror. "The strength of English golf at the moment is just amazing."
However, England's finest could face tough competition from the likes of Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell, who won the recent Wales Open, for a place in the Ryder Cup squad.
