Colin Montgomerie facing difficult Ryder Cup selection task

23/07/2010

Ian Woosnam thinks Colin Montgomerie will have his work cut out in deciding which players should take to the course in front of fans with Ryder Cup hospitality tickets.

The Welshman claimed that Europe's Ryder Cup captain will find it tricky deciding on the identity of his three wild cards for the tournament, which runs between October 1st and 3rd 2010 at Celtic Manor.

"Monty is going to find it difficult picking three players," the 52-year-old remarked. "I wouldn't like to be in his shoes."

A number of big-name golfers - including the likes of Justin Rose, Padraig Harrington and Paul Casey - are all battling out for the chance to play in front of people with Ryder Cup hospitality tickets.

Woosie's words echo those of Montgomerie, who has previously admitted that he is going to have to leave some "very, very good players" out of the side.

"I apologise for the fact, but I've got to because of the strength and depth that we have," he said.
