Dale Steyn reaches 250 test wickets
15/12/2011
South African fast bowler Dale Steyn has become the second fastest man in Test match history to reach 250 wickets on the first day of the opening Test of the new series against Sri Lanka at Centurion.
The paceman reached the landmark in his 48th Test - just one more than the legendary Dennis Lillee - when Sri Lankan captain Tillakaratne Dilshan skied an attempted pull shot to midwicket.
UK-based fans can enjoy seeing Steyn in action while enjoying hospitality packages at the Kia Oval in next summer's Test series, when South Africa will be seeking to take England's place at the top of the Test rankings.
Steyn began his career against England in the 2004-05 series between the two countries in South Africa as a young fast bowler coming into a side featuring pace bowlers like Shaun Pollock and Makhaya Ntini.
Dennis Lillee went on to take 355 Test wickets in his career, at an average of 23.92 each.
