Could your World Cup experience take you to Cape Town's new "spectacular stadium"?

Those anticipating a World Cup experience trip to South Africa next summer may be excited to learn that the Green Point stadium has finally opened.

Officials from the city of Cape Town received the keys to the building yesterday (December 14th) at a ceremony.

A local government statement said it is "one of the world's most spectacular stadiums", adding the job was completed to its deadline.

Able to house 68,000 spectators, the stadium is set to host eight matches at the finals next year.

It consists of a bowl design with sweeping silhouettes, with 16 mm of glass to protect fans from wind and rain.

Earlier this month, the draw for the finals was made in Cape Town.

It saw England put in a group with Slovenia, the USA and Algeria.

Meanwhile, Brazil, Ivory Coast, Portugal and North Korea have been drawn into what commentators are already dubbing the tournament's group of death.ADNFCR-2911-ID-19513832-ADNFCR
