World Cup Tour news: Beckham is 'crazy' about the tournament

30/12/2009

David Beckham is looking forward to going to South Africa next summer as much as those booking World Cup Tour packages, if Fabio Capello's recent comments are anything to go by.

The England manager told Italian news provider La Gazzetta dello Sport that the LA Galaxy midfielder will be in his squad as long as he maintains his fitness over the next six months.

Beckham is heading to AC Milan for a second loan stint in an attempt to prove he is in good enough shape to be on the Three Lions' plane to the tournament.

Capello has praised the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star, stating he is a "great professional".

He told the newspaper: "I don't look at age, I pay attention to quality and David has a lot."

As football fans booking World Cup Tour packages may already know, Beckham faces fierce competition for a spot on his favoured right-midfield role.

Theo Walcott, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Aaron Lennon and James Milner are all vying to play in the position in South Africa.ADNFCR-2911-ID-19534063-ADNFCR
