World Cup Tour news: Klinsmann predicts 'evenly matched tournament'

23/12/2009

Those who book World Cup Tour packages to follow England will enjoy an evenly-matched tournament, if one former player and manager's predictions are anything to go by.

Asked by Fifa.com about whether Fabio Capello's men can triumph in South Africa, Jurgen Klinsmann said any one of eight seeded teams could lift the trophy in July 2010.

He said: "There can hardly ever have been a World Cup with so many potential favourites, in my opinion.

"Let's not forget there are still six months to go. A lot can happen in that time."

The former Germany coach - who led the side into the 2006 World Cup on home soil - suggested a few of the unseeded sides, including Portugal, Ivory Coast and France, could also be in contention.

Meanwhile, soccer fans may be encouraged to book World Cup Tour packages after hearing about the rush to secure entry to the finals.

Fifa recently revealed there has been more than 500,000 applications for tickets on its website.ADNFCR-2911-ID-19528470-ADNFCR
