World Cup Tour Package news: Owen 'should go to the finals'

People who book Fifa World Cup Tour Package tickets will be able to watch Michael Owen in action, if Sir Alex Ferguson gets his way.

Manchester United's boss has talked up the striker's chances of being in Fabio Capello's squad for the tournament after Owen's recent goalscoring exploits for the Red Devils, according to the Press Association.

The former Liverpool and Newcastle United hitman scored a hat-trick against Wolfsburg for United in the Champions League last week (December 9th 2009), leading his boss to suggest he should be in the reckoning for a spot on the plane to South Africa next summer.

"There is a view that [Michael] will not have played enough games. But he will play a sufficient number to be considered. That is the best chance he has got. That is all he can hope for," Sir Alex said.

Another striker hoping to be at the World Cup is Everton's Louis Saha.

The forward recently suggested although he is focused on his domestic form, it is hard not to have dreams of playing for France in South Africa in the back of his mind.
