13/09/2010

Cricket fans may be inspired to buy Brit Insurance Oval tickets for the England v Pakistan ODI series after the second match went down to the wire.

The game, which took place at Headingley yesterday (September 12th 2010), saw the tourists set a challenging target of 294 from their 50 overs, thanks to knocks of 74 from Kamran Akmal and 50 from Ashad Shafiq.

Stuart Broad took four wickets in the innings but proved expensive, being smashed for 81 runs from his ten overs.

In response, England flew out of the blocks thanks to a flurry of boundaries from Steven Davies, but the wicket-keeper was dismissed for 26 in the seventh over, caught behind off Shoaib Akhtar.

Andrew Strauss and Jonathan Trott then put on 146 for the second wicket, before the latter departed for 53.

Captain Strauss eventually perished in the 45th over to Saeed Ajmal for 126 and although England lost two more wickets, Michael Yardy and Tim Bresnan guided them safely over the line with three balls to spare.

The third match in the series takes place in front of people with Brit Insurance Oval tickets on Friday September 17th.
