Eoin Morgan strikes first innings ton in England v Pakistan Test
30/07/2010
Eoin Morgan may have helped to cement his place in the England team for matches watched by fans with Test match tickets by hitting a ton against Pakistan.
The left-hander came to the crease yesterday (July 29th 2010) with England in trouble on 118 for four in the first innings of the opening Test at Trent Bridge.
But his partnership with Paul Collingwood helped Andrew Strauss' side rebuild to finish the day on 331 for four, with Morgan left unbeaten on 125.
His efforts came in the face of some probing bowling from Pakistani paceman Mohammad Aamer, who claimed the wickets of England's top three batsmen - Strauss, Alastair Cook and Jonathan Trott.
Prior to the series getting underway, Marcus Trescothick told fans with Test match tickets to expect the teenage bowler to pose a real threat to England's batsmen.
He described Aamer as "the most skilful seamer in world cricket" in a column for the Evening Post.
