Cheltenham Festival corporate tickets news: Imperial Commander backed for Gold Cup success
03/02/2010
Horseracing enthusiasts with corporate tickets for the Cheltenham Festival may be tempted to follow the advice of Paddy Brennan and have a flutter on Imperial Commander.
The jockey expressed his confidence that the horse can beat off competition from the likes of Kauto Star and Denman to win the Gold Cup.
Recent form would suggest that Kauto Star has the edge in the match-up, winning the William Hill King George VI Chase on Boxing Day while Imperial Commander could only manage fifth place.
But Brennan said that the horse is still capable of staging an upset at what he described as the "biggest race" on the calendar.
"Imperial Commander loves Cheltenham and is coming there in good form," he told At the Races. "He's at his best there and the track really seems to suit him."
Kauto Star will be going for his third Gold Cup victory on March 19th 2010, having become the first horse to regain the trophy last year.
