Marcello Lippi dreams of meeting England in World Cup final

05/02/2010

Marcello Lippi has said his dream World Cup final would be a meeting between his Italy side and Fabio Capello's England.

The Italy manager, who guided his side to glory in the competition in 2006, said that if the two sides were to meet in the deciding match of the tournament it would be a "beautiful final".

Lippi said he would be eager to see how Capello behaves in the build-up to a clash between England and his home nation.

"I'd like to see how Fabio Capello would react when the Italian national anthem is played. I'd really like that," he said.

Before the England boss can set his own sights on appearing in the World Cup final, he must first seek to resolve the issue surrounding John Terry's captaincy.

Capello is set to meet with Terry today (February 5th 2010) with the intention of sorting out his future in the role, which has been cast into doubt following an alleged affair between the centre-back and the ex-girlfriend of Wayne Bridge.
