ODI tickets news: Kieswetter 'in the running for 50-over selection'

18/02/2010

Cricket enthusiasts with ODI tickets for England's one-day series against Pakistan could be set to see Craig Kieswetter make his national debut.

The Somerset wicketkeeper-batman is currently on tour with the England Lions and has turned in some impressive performances, averaging 93 with the bat.

And he will have caught the eye of ODI captain Paul Collingwood during the Lions' clash with the first team, when he smashed 81 from 66 deliveries and took two catches behind the stumps.

Despite being born in South Africa, Kieswetter completed his four-year qualification period this week and his county boss Brian Rose has tipped him to star for England in the near future.

"He has been exceptional and I think he has cemented his place at the forefront of [national selector] Geoff Miller's mind," Rose told the Bristol Evening Post.

If Rose's forecast is correct then Kieswetter could be set to turn out in front of fans with ODI tickets at the Riverside for the first England v Pakistan clash on September 10th 2010.
