Twenty20 tickets news: Denly delighted at Spitfires contract extension

05/02/2010

Joe Denly has expressed his delight at being able to play in front of Kent fans with Twenty20 tickets again over the forthcoming season.

The opening batsman, who has also recently stated his eagerness to hold down a place in the England Test match line-up, has agreed to a two-year extension of his county contract.

It means that he could be available for the Spitfires for the clash against rivals Surrey Lions at the Brit Oval on June 18th 2010.

Denly, who will celebrate his 24th birthday next month, was in negotiations with the Canterbury outfit over a new contract for two months, a process which he said went well.

"All I ever wanted to do is play for Kent and [I] was always keen to put pen to paper," he told the Kentish Gazette. "As a youngster playing for the under-11s, I always dreamed about it."

The batsman is now preparing to depart for Bangladesh, where he hopes to take part in England's three-match One Day International series.
