Twenty20 tickets news: Surrey drop Brown Caps title, rebrand as Lions
17/02/2010
Surrey cricket fans with Twenty20 tickets will no longer be cheering for the Brown Caps during the forthcoming campaign.
The south coast club has reverted to its previous Surrey Lions branding for the start of the 2010 Twenty20 campaign, with the first match at their Brit Oval ground set to take place against Gloucestershire Gladiators on June 8th.
Both the Twenty20 and One Day teams will be subject to the new name, which came about after a consultation involving all interested parties - including the playing staff and cricket manager Chris Adams.
Adams expressed his desire for the current batch of players to replicate the memories and successes of previous Lions teams and suggested that the move could work in his side's favour.
"I am hoping this will bring a bit of bite back to the team and give the players a positive identity which fits the direction I intend to take them," he said.
