Wimbledon hospitality news: Venus Williams installed as favourite in Dubai

Venus Williams could be set to give a confident performance in front of fans with Wimbledon hospitality tickets if she can retain her Dubai Tennis Championships title.

The US star has been installed as favourite for the tournament after a host of top names, including Caroline Wozniacki and Svetlana Kuznetsova, were knocked out of the competition in the early stages.

Williams showed flashes of brilliance to fight back from 4-1 down in the first set against her opponent Olga Govortsova yesterday (February 17th 2010), winning eight successive games in the process to close out the match 7-5, 6-0.

She expressed her desire to perform strongly in the Dubai tournament and said she likes her status of defending champion.

"I'm getting closer to defending my championship and I am going to work hard for it," she was quoted by AFP as saying.

The women's final of the Dubai Tennis Championships is set to take place on February 20th, with the men's side of the draw scheduled to kick off two days later.
