Wimbledon tickets news: Juan Martin del Potro sidelined for at least a month

12/02/2010

Juan Martin del Potro faces an interruption to his season ahead of his appearance in front of fans with Wimbledon tickets this summer.

The world number five has been ruled out for a minimum of a month with the wrist injury which caused him to struggle during the recent Australian Open.

Following his US Open final victory over Roger Federer, the Argentinean was hit with the problem in Shanghai in October 2009 and has failed to shake off the injury ever since.

However, del Potro was still set to take part in the forthcoming Dubai Tennis Championships - which gets underway on February 22nd 2010 - but he will now miss out on the event after aggravating the knock in training.

His coach Franco Davin told Argentina's La Nacion newspaper that the recurrence of the injury had taken him by surprise.

"Juan Martin was doing very well in training [but] … in the final training session he felt a pain. He went for a scan and the problem was detected," Davin said.
