Wimbledon VIP packages news: Veterans back Andy Murray for Slam success

03/02/2010

Andy Murray could claim his first Grand Slam title in front of tennis fans with Wimbledon VIP packages this year, former stars of the game have said.

Former British number one Greg Rusedski praised Murray's performance in the January 31st final of the Australian Open, in which he was beaten in three sets by Roger Federer.

And the Canada-born player expressed his confidence that the Scottish ace will taste success in a future Grand Slam event if he can continue to develop at his current rate.

Meanwhile, Australian Pat Rafter - who defeated Rusedski in the final of the 1997 US Open - said it is a question of if, not when, Murray will win a major.

He went on to state that Murray's first success may even come at the SW19 tournament this year.

"He could win Wimbledon," Rafter said. "It's just a matter of if he can deal with the pressure of playing in the UK."

Tennis enthusiasts with Wimbledon VIP packages may be aware that the last British male to win a Grand Slam singles event was Fred Perry in 1936.
