Gavin Henson accepts Barbarians call
28/09/2010
Gavin Henson has accepted an invitation to play in front of Twickenham hospitality customers in the Barbarians v South Africa clash.
The Wales international, who is on unpaid leave from club side the Ospreys and has expressed his desire to switch to a London outfit, will be part of a team that also includes Australia's skipper Rocky Elsom and fly-half Matt Giteau, and New Zealand lock Chris Jack.
Furthermore, Henson's fellow Welshman and Ospreys star Mike Phillips will make his debut for the Barbarians in front of Twickenham hospitality guests in the clash, which will take place on December 4th 2010.
Twickenham was the scene of the last encounter between the Baa-Baas and South Africa in 2007, in which the multinational team ran out 22-5 winners, courtesy of tries from Giteau, Elsom and Martyn Williams.
Nick Mallett will coach the squad with the assistance of Alan Solomons, after the pair masterminded the Barbarians' 25-18 victory over the All Blacks at Twickenham last year.
