Those enjoying hospitality packages at the Millennium Stadium during the Six Nations will be keen to learn the make up of the Welsh squad and one former international has said he thinks would be stronger if it did not include Gavin Henson.

Speaking ahead of the announcement of the 35-man party by coach Warren Gatland, former Wales flanker Emyr Lewis told BBC Sport: "On what I've seen so far there are far better players than him playing better rugby."

He named Jamie Roberts, Jonathan Davies and Ashley Beck as superior options for the centre position.

However, Lewis also suggested Henson has not been given much chance to shine by his club side Cardiff Blues as he has not been playing in his preferred position at outside half.

Gatland's announcement revealed that the squad will be made up mainly of the players who took Wales to the semi-finals in last year's World Cup.

Lewis may be pleased to learn that Beck is in the squad, along with fellow uncapped Ospreys player Rhys Webb.
