Hampshire prepare to defend T20 title
Rose Bowl hospitality guests will no doubt be hoping for a good performance from Hampshire this evening as they begin the defence of their Friend's Life Twenty20 title at home to Somerset.
The opening match of their domestic T20 season gets underway at 19:10 BST this evening (June 1st) and opening batsman Jimmy Adams is confident they can match the achievements of last year, when they won the trophy on home soil at the Rose Bowl against tonight's opponents.
"We've got a very strong side so I don't see any reason why we can't be there on finals day again," he told BBC Radio Solent.
The batsman, who was the top scorer in 2010's competition with 668 runs, is also hoping a good showing will help lift the team after what has been a disappointing start to the summer, as they have failed to win any of their first six county championship games.
Tonight's match against Somerset will be the first of eight T20 games Hampshire play at the Rose Bowl this summer in the group stage, with finals day being held this year at Edgbaston on August 27th.
