Cricket fans enjoying hospitality packages at the Rose Bowl will be seeing David Balcombe represent Hampshire for three more years.

The pace bowler has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2014, following his return to form during an impressive loan spell at Kent last season.

Balcombe said he was pleased to commit his future to Hampshire, having initially struggled to break into the first team after returning from injury earlier this year.

"It's a young squad, full of talent and I think we're going to be doing good things this year," the 26-year-old commented.

Speaking about his brief spell at Kent, he added: "It really gave me a fantastic opportunity to show my capabilities in county cricket."

Hampshire manager Giles White described Balcombe as one of the team's key players for the next few years.

Sean Ervine, another Hampshire star, has returned to his native Zimbabwe to represent provincial side Matabeleland Tuskers this month.
