Henley Regatta corporate tickets news: 76-year-old to row event course for charity

12/05/2010

People with Henley Regatta corporate tickets visiting the site of the event on June 10th will be given a precursor to the main races courtesy of a 76-year-old rower.

Patrick Tolfree of Dorchester will be rowing the 2,112 metre Henley Regatta course before the main event takes place, in order to raise money for Parkinson's UK.

Although he has not been behind the oars for the best part of 60 years, Patrick - who was diagnosed with the disease back in 1991 - said he is relishing the challenge.

Speaking to View Online, he commented: "Getting back into rowing was tough, but I am really enjoying it now.

"Exercise is a great way for people like me, who have Parkinson's, to maintain movement and balance."

The elderly fundraiser should have plenty of time to complete the task before fans with Henley Regatta corporate tickets turn up to watch the main event, which starts 20 days later on June 30th and runs until July 4th 2010.
