Henley Regatta corporate tickets news: Kiwis thank organisers for support

05/05/2010

New Zealand rowers decided to take part in more races watched by people with Henley Regatta corporate tickets this year thanks to the backing of event organisers.

A Kiwi contingent headed to the Thames meeting in 2009 and the touring party has been expanded this year, meaning they will enter two boats into the coxless fours and one in the Grand Challenge Eight.

It is the first time in 30 years that a crew from New Zealand will have competed in front of fans with Henley Regatta corporate tickets.

High performance manager for the New Zealand rowing team Alan Cotter said stewards at Henley have been "very generous" in supporting both the 2009 and 2010 trips to the event, which will take place between June 30th and July 4th.

"We wanted to pay back some of that support and have a crack at a couple more events," he commented.

Last month, crew member Brad Jowitt told Stuff.co.nz the Kiwis are so keen to race in front of fans with Henley Regatta corporate tickets that they will have to pay a substantial amount of money to pay for the trip.
