Henley Regatta prestige tickets: Kiwi crew chasing Thames Challenge Cup success

26/03/2010

Rowers from New Zealand will make the arduous trip to the UK this summer to compete in front of enthusiasts with Henley Regatta prestige tickets.

No Kiwi crew has ever won at the event, which runs between June 30th and July 4th 2010, but Nick Pusinelli and Simon Manawaiti have expressed confidence that they can make history at Henley this year.

The pair are part of an eights crew from Avondale's West End Rowing Club who are preparing for their appearance in front of fans with Henley Regatta prestige tickets.

Speaking to the Aucklander, they revealed that they were inspired to enter the competition after six of their eight members enjoyed success in the New Zealand national championships in February.

"We're training to win," said Manawaiti. "Nick's running the programme and he's really tough on us."

They have set their sights on winning one of the six Henley Regatta eights races, the Thames Challenge Cup.

Other eights contests at the event include the Grand, Temple and Princess Elizabeth challenge cups.
