Henley Regatta prestige tickets news: World Rowing Championships 'inspired by Thames event'

15/04/2010

Fans with Henley Regatta prestige tickets helped to inspire the organisers of the 2010 World Rowing Championships in New Zealand.

The tournament will get underway in 200 days' time at Lake Karapiro in Canterbury and the event's chief executive officer, Tom Mayo, spent much of the last season watching the world's biggest rowing festivals.

During his time spent travelling Europe, Mr Mayo paid a visit to the Polish world championship competition in Poznan and also watched the River Thames event alongside fans with Henley Regatta prestige tickets, reports World Rowing.

Having drawn inspiration from events such as these, the organiser revealed he is keen to attract 80,000 spectators to the festival in New Zealand, which is set to run between October 31st and November 7th 2010.

Rowing is one of the biggest sports in New Zealand and a Kiwi crew has already expressed their desire to win one of the races in front of fans with Henley Regatta prestige tickets this year.

Nick Pusinelli and Simon Manawaiti told the Aucklander they are targeting victory in the Thames Challenge Cup.
