Ian Bell dropped from one-day squad
07/02/2012
Ian Bell has been dropped form England's one-day cricket squad after his dismal showing in the Test series against Pakistan.
The Warwickshire batsman was one of the most notable failures in the 3-0 whitewash, with a top score of just 29 and he has paid for it by being omitted from the five one-day games and three T20 matches.
Meanwhile Jos Buttler and Danny Briggs get their first call-ups to the senior squad as they hope to show that they can do better against the Asian side's wily spinners after spending the last few months with the England Lions squad in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Fans enjoying hospitality packages at Ian Bell's county home ground of Edgbaston for the one-day game against Australia on July 4th may be hoping he has recovered his place in the side by then.
One Lions player who will not be playing in the UAE is Surrey fast bowler Stuart Meaker, who flew home last week with a back problem.
