Ian Bell hits form as wickets tumble
03/05/2012
Another day of low-scoring in the County Championship did not prevent Ian Bell from making a timely unbeaten half century for Warwickshire.
Bowlers were on top again around the country and this was certainly the case at Edgbaston, where Warwickshire put Durham into bat after winning the toss and dismissed them for 163.
However, Warwickshire were soon in deep trouble themselves at 14-4, with Jonathan Trott out for just two.
However, Bell led a recovery and reached 59 not out by the close, with his team on 116-5.
Fans booking corporate hospitality for the Test match at Edgbaston when the West Indies are the visitors next month may be hoping Bell can carry on scoring runs and ensure he stays in the England team after a tough winter.
Bell's highest score in a Test on tour this year was 52 in the Galle Test, a match where Trott made 112 but was unable to prevent England losing by 75 runs.
