Investec Internationals news: Robshaw to captain England against Baa-Baas

07/06/2010

Chris Robshaw will get the chance to push for inclusion in the Investec Internationals when he captains England against the Australian Barbarians tomorrow (June 8th 2010).

The Harlequins flanker has impressed England coach Martin Johnson over the past three seasons and has been rewarded for his efforts by being handed the opportunity to lead his country against the Baa-Baas.

Robshaw has just one England cap to his name, won against Argentina last summer, but Johnson believes he is good enough to guide the side on their first match of the southern hemisphere tour.

"It is nice to get him into a position of leadership," the 2003 World Cup winner said. "Chris is an industrious, hard-working player. Leadership is a big part of any rugby side."

The flanker will hope that his captaincy of the side impresses Johnson enough for him to keep his place right through until the Investec Internationals, which kick off with the England v New Zealand match on November 6th.
