Jacques Kallis sounded a warning to England's cricketers with a return to form in the third Test between South Africa and Sri Lanka at Cape Town.

With the series tied 1-1, the tourists sought to chase a decisive victory when they won the toss and sent the home side into bat today (January 3rd), but spent the day chasing leather instead as Kallis reached 159 not out by the close.

Opener Alviro Petersen was also in the runs, making 109, while A.B. de Villiers finished the day 45 not out as the hosts closed on 347-3.

Fans planning to enjoy hospitality packages in the Test match at Headingley when England face the South Africans next summer may look forward to seeing Kallis battling with England's world-beating bowling attack.

While the master batsman struggled during his last series in England in 2008, he made three centuries in the 2004-05 series between the two sides in South Africa.
