Corporate hospitality news: Tony McCoy would 'appreciate Denman ride at Cheltenham Festival'

18/01/2010

Horseracing enthusiasts with corporate hospitality tickets to the Cheltenham Festival may see Tony McCoy competing on 2008 winner Denman.

The champion jockey appeared to throw his hat into the ring as one of the potential candidates for the coveted ride.

Denman is likely to be up for grabs, with analysts noting that Ruby Walsh is unlikely to abandon his ride on Kauto Star - a partnership which has won the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 2007 and 2009.

And although McCoy revealed that he has yet to be approached for the position, he said he would welcome an offer from trainer Paul Nicholls and owners Harry Findlay and Paul Barber.

"I'm sure whoever does get the ride will be very lucky," he said. "I'd certainly gladly appreciate it if it did happen."

Last week, Donald McCain revealed that he may enter two runners - Whiteoak and Alegralil - into the David Nicholson Mares' Hurdle at the festival.ADNFCR-2911-ID-19562735-ADNFCR
