Twenty20 tickets news: Aamer 'shattered' after dropping Ponting

21/01/2010

Pakistan's Mohammad Aamer will hope to avoid dropping Australia captain Ricky Ponting once again when the two sides play in front of English fans with Twenty20 tickets later this year.

The teams will compete in a Twenty20 series in England, with two matches taking place at Edgbaston in July, because international games are not allowed to be held in Pakistan on safety grounds.

Young fast bowler Aamer will be keen to have put the error to the back of his mind by then. Ponting was yet to get off the mark when Aamer dropped him but he went on to make 209 in the first innings of the Test match at Hobart after the reprieve.

It helped Australia to bat their rivals out of the match.

Pakistan manager Abdul Raqeeb told the News that the pace bowler was "completely shattered" after the mistake.

"He was clueless how he dropped that simple catch and knew that it took the game away from us," he added.
